Spaces Reimagined: A Portfolio of Inspired Design
The design of the space required an intentional balance to enhance the art it housed while also remaining the secondary, supporting point of interest. Arches found at the entry, windows and doorways took inspiration from the organic shapes of glass. The interior also borrowed elements from Cafesjian’s first art museum, Cafesjian Center for the Arts, in Armenia. The team designed a unique egg-shaped library where researchers can read about various artists the museum features. The interior space plan and materials provides CAT with a flexible canvas to complement each installation and exhibit.
The newly renovated space also includes individual offices and conference rooms for CAT staff, a kitchen lounge, a full-service catering kitchen, the gallery, a library, an art rehabilitation room, a large warehouse for art storage and an outdoor patio with flexible seating.
